Flores Statement Regarding American Health Care Act

U.S. Representative Bill Flores (R-Texas) issued the following statement regarding the American Health Care Act (AHCA):

"I am disappointed that the American Health Care Act was pulled from consideration by the House of Representatives today. I believe that for some, the pursuit of 'perfect' became the enemy of the good. The unfortunate result is that hardworking American families will continue to be subject to Obamacare's tax increases, dwindling choices and skyrocketing premiums; Medicaid will continue down its unsustainable path and create increasing fiscal challenges for our states; and Planned Parenthood will continue to be funded with taxpayer dollars through Medicaid. America deserves better and I supported the AHCA to put American families back in charge of their health care decisions.

"I want to commend the following persons who performed yeoman's work in trying to get the AHCA to fruition -- Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, President Donald J. Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, HHS Secretary Tom Price and OMB Director Mick Mulvaney. Each of these folks worked long hours trying to develop consensus for this important piece of legislation. I deeply appreciate their efforts in this regard.

"Even though our efforts to develop a 21st century health strategy for America have been sidelined, I will continue to work with House Conservatives on other important initiatives -- improving national security, border security, tax reform, regulatory reform, American energy security and hopefully, immigration reform."
